Is South Philly a dangerous part of Philadelphia?

I lived in South Philly for 19 years now and never had any dangerous life threatening encounters. Some people can be rude & such but what city doesn't have people like that? Majority of South Philly is nice, some areas are great, some are okay. If you had to chose an area in Philly I would suggest South since there seems to be a lot more variety. Or Northeast Philly which is a really great area. West & North I would avoid.

Why do most people attack Catholics?

I'm catholic and I don't do what most people claim:for example I don't "worship" Mary(I HONOR her,not worship),I don't worship the pope,I don't believe in confession(telling a human your sins),I don't bow down to any image,etc. You rarely see Catholics on Yahoo answers attacking protestants or any other christian related group! I wonder why this website can stay up and running... isn't it slander or libel. Does the opinion of a 12 yr old really hold any water? If I reprimand a student for a cruel, dangerous deed suddenly I am MEAN and UNFAIR (these are the kind statements). I grade students with the purpose of having them strive to be better and then they say I am an unfair grader because they are so used to getting A's from the other teachers. The only thing I learned from it is that some kids don't know reality- some say I don't help them meanwhile I walk around the entire time helping everyone especially those with severe need. The comments are humiliating and go against the kind of person I try to be. The kids say basically anything although it is supposed to be about your teaching only. I have 4 degrees and thay say I don't know what I am teaching. Yeah, right! I think I am ranting because after reading it I want to leave the profession (what I hear most teachers say). What kind of Birthday party could i do??

Buy a bunch of animal cut outs in those neon bright colors. Or, even just buy paper(there's some types of computer paper) and print out like the outlinings of the animals and post them all around the house/room. Buy really bright colored plates and party decorations. As for the cake, order one specially made with those bright colors on them. Make four teams: Chillin' Cheetahs, Zangy Zebras, Movin' Monkeys, and Tangy Tigers. Have an activity where they have to best re-create their animal using various items: M&M's, tooth picks, candy bars, candy, etc. Use icing to have them "glue" then together. Whichever team has the best recreation, wins. Then they can eat their "animals" as a prize. Next. Have each team line up, one behind another. Give them a banana and have them p it down the line of people, using their knees! That's kind of jungle(y). Whoever gets it to the bottom of the line first wins! And if you are feeling a little messy, have each kid put a "panty hoes" over their head. Tell them to try to eat the banana through the pantyhoes! It's hard but possible:) At the begginning of the party, take a picture of all of the guests together, then have someone go get the prints during the party or print them off your own printer. At the end of the party have them all make a frame for their picture. Make sure you have a lot of neon color paint and jewels:) As for food goes, just do the usual party food: chips, dip, punch, pizza, snack food. If you plan on buying another 5850 for crossfire in the future than 700 would probably be enough. With that extra cash you saved, buy a 7200 rpm hard drive. I am not sure why you chose a 5400 rpm. 7200 rpm is now the standard for desktop hard drives so it would be a much better choice. You did not include a CPU cooler on your list. Don't use AMD's stock cooler as stock coolers in general aren't very good. For $60 max, you can get a very good cooler like the Coolermaster V8, Tuniq Tower 120 Extreme, or Xigmatek Dark Night.

Just put the roast in the oven with some water in the pan and cook at like 250 degrees for like 8 hours. that should do the trick.

What to expect at early scan?

I found out that iwas pregnant a few weeks ago but then after a couple of days I started bleeding. I went to the doctors and he phoned up the Early Pregnancy Unit and they have booked me in for a scan this Friday, when i should be 6 weeks. They said that they wouldn't e able to see anything until then. The doctor said to go with a full bladder but i would have thought they would do an internal scan with it being so early. My 3 week old wants to nurse CONSTANTLY. Any help?

My son is 3 weeks old and wants to nurse all of the time. Sometimes he eats for an 1 1/2 to 2 hours at a time and others he'll eat for about 30 minutes but want to eat more in less than an hour. I just feel totally tied down and can't do anything. He screams and screams until I feed him again. He sleeps pretty well throughout the day and night , but sometimes he's awake within 15 minutes of putting him down wants to eat again. Windows xp won't boot. Help!?

I have a Dell Optiplex GX280, with Windows XP SP3, and a little while ago, i was converting a video from Windows Media Player format to iTunes format with a program, i do not remember the name. The video was barely at 2% when the computer all of a sudden crashed, and now Windows won't even boot. I have a System Restore point saved just before i downloaded the program, so i was going to try to go into Safe Mode to access it. But, Safe Mode won't even boot, it starts the normal process, but stops at "multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WIN… I have read online that the only possible way of fixing it from here, would be with the use of the Windows XP start up disk, which i do not have. If any one can help me with this problem, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

How long is too long to let my baby cry himself to sleep?

I tend to lean more towards attachment parenting practices, but my poor son won't go to sleep unless he is nursing. He won't take a pacifier nor does he suck his thumb or fingers, and its gotten so bad that if my falls out of his mouth at night he wakes up and starts crying right away. I could tell today he needed a nap, but I just can't sit down and nurse for a few hours, so I decided to try just laying him in his crib and seeing if he would cry himself to sleep. Why don't I like myself and things about me? How can I change that?

I used to be picked on to the point where I have ZERO self confidence. When people say I'm pretty, or compliment me in a good way...I never believe it. I say thanks and this and that, but when I know them well...I keep asking for reurance. "Do you really? Why? You're joking right??" type of stuff. I look at myself in the mirror and still say "ewww" It's not just about being pretty...it's like I don't like the stuff I do or say...or just things about me. What Can I Do To Calm Myself Down?

I have a really hard midterm in almost 4 hours. It's in a nutrition cl (which is a really hard cl to begin with.) and I'm really, incredibly nervous. I've been studying really hard for this test, and know the material pretty well, but (and I'm not using this an excuse or anything or to whine and complain) I do have learning disabilities, and taking tests (especially college tests) is very difficult for me. I always have trouble comprehending what the questions are asking me, and I also have trouble understanding really big words (which my nutrition cl has a lot of.) I'm going to be perfectly honest, I even had to use the method of studying that my mom taught me when I was in elementary school. And that was, to make up corny phrases that I would remember. (Like the common corny phrase to remember the colors of the rainbow Roy G. Biv, stuff like that.) I've thought of some pretty good ones too. But still, as many awesome corny phrases as I've thought up, I'm still incredibly nervous, and I'm afraid I'll freeze up and forget everything. I'm also more afraid that while I'm taking my test I'll have a seizure (I have Epilepsy, and I've been having tons and tons of seizures lately. I had one just last week, and it happened to be right in front of the guy I have a huge crush on, but he didn't happen to see anything. I mean I know if he did see, he probably would've come over and stayed with me to make sure I was ok. But when I have a seizure, I will blank out, and then I will get up and walk around the room like I were sleep walking. I've had it all my life, but I'm being treated. I'm on 4 different meds. for it, and I just got put on a new one a couple weeks ago. But still, that would be so embarring if I happened to get up and walk around the room and possibly wander out the door while people are taking a test! :O) and totally embarr myself! I share your pain. Not necessarily regarding the whole 2012 thing but i feel your pain. Humans have lost their moral fortitudes, as a whole that is. There are still the few that look at the world and idealistically wonder why, and what can we do to change this. Sadly, we are a minority. Some people don't realize it and most people just don't care. I wish I could change it. We've seen historically that one person can change the course of society and life, but when there is no one around to listen... it's hard to make that statement. A Day to Remember is a really awesome band. They are kind of a mixture of rock and punk. Some other bands are Hey Monday, New Found Glory, All Time Low (similar to Blink-182), The Friday Night Boys, Fall Out Boy, VersaEmerge, Mayday Parade, Motion City Soundtrack, Senses Fail, Taking Back Sunday, We the Kings. First, I do not know what makes your skin dark. So, I ume it is due to frequent sun exposure. Then, I would suggest you to stay at home for a certain period and it will become fairer by itself naturally. Or you may have to apply whitening skincare (some are really natural / organic) for better results. Anyhow back to the main point. I bought these pills that are like Mucinex only generic. The main ingredient is the big long G word and its the only ingredient. Though I have never lived outside of America, people pick up on what they perceive as an accent from me. They tend to think I am Irish, Scottish, or Russian. When I ask these people why they believe I have a foreign accent, they most often mention how I pronounce the letter R, and vowels. If this was a genuine accent on my part, I would have no problem with this, but this almost certainly is a remnant of a speech impediment I had as a kid. Though I conquered this issue to the satisfaction parents and speech therapist, I obviously did not conqueror it fully. When I try to copy how someone pronounces a word, I believe I do so perfectly, but others hear clear differences. This must be a problem of perception more than motor skill on my part making practicing imitation rather pointless. I admit this issue is rather harmless, and this is why it has not been a huge priority for me. I am however a little self conscious about it and would consider it a huge victory if I can get over this completely.

1975 honda tail light problem (electrical)?

Hi there, ive got a 1975 honda cb500t with a tail light problem. So, the tail light will not turn on. The brake light will though(same bulb). Everything else electrical also works. When I turn the key to "run", the headlight and running lights illuminate, but no tail light. When I turn the key to "park", which is supposed to only illuminate the tail light, the main fuse and tail fuse blow. I took apart the main ignition switch and cleaned the contacts, but it didnt help. any ideas?

If the Bose does not have an optical in and 5.1 Dolby Digital Sound is not important to you then RCA will have to do the trick. So sorry you didnt do your HW on the BOSE. How to get my crate trained dogs house trained.?

Ok, so here is the situation. I have three mini dachshunds, two boys (rex and rudy) and a girl (ruthie). They are all up to date on shots, no medical problems, and they are all fixed (neutered and spayed). They are perfectly crate trained, and have no problem going to the bathroom outside. When we let them back from being outside they can be with us for ours and have no problems. But once we leave them by themselves is when we have a problem. If me and my girlfriend leave the room they are in most of they time one will pee or poop if we are gone for more than 2 minutes. Again if we are in the room they have no problem and they are fully crate trained and go to the bathroom outside fine. We just want to transition them to think the entire two rooms are there "crate" so they know not to go to the bathroom. Help please on transtioning?

I don't think it's necessary. I only rinse bottles and pacifiers after washing with boiling water. But her plates and spoons are not sterilized. As for global warming you should look at other facts (like how many tons of pollutant is released in 1 volcano explosion then comapare that to how much humans produce in 10 years, also compare the ges etc, i think you will be quite surprised)

It's hard, I know. I've been in your shoes, and it sucks. My cousin was the same way. Roaches, Dog feces on the kids beds, Random men using drugs in the basement, Loaded guns found under 4 feet tall piles of clothes. 8year old kids had been employed as baby-sitters. I knew a woman that worked in childrens services. She reported her and sent someone else. The first time it was a warning. My cousin called me, she always was dependent on my help, as I was the only one who would even try anymore. I did what you and other family have done. I cleaned the crap, the literal crap, bought food, took them home to bathe them, washed the clothes, all of it. But I learned that that idea just band-aided the problem. As soon as they had checked the house it would go back to the way it was. I kept calling anybody who would listen and eventually someone listened. When the police came in, one officer was brought to tears. He walked upstairs and found children's footprints made in dog feces. My great aunt took custody and my cousin got lots of help. It took about five years but she is okay now and three of her kids went back .T he oldest daughter however is permanently traumatized and has a hard time having a relationship with her mom. You have to be a voice for these kids. They don't have one. It is hard and you probably will be riddled with guilt but you have to stand up for them. If they remove her kids your family members can take temporary custody and I believe you can get some help with expenses. Even if they have to be split up temporarily it is better than what they are going through now. I wish you the best. Call the police, skip all the people who don't listen and save these kids.
