Are the Irish Catholics really being oppressed or are they just being driven mad by their religious leaders?

Is it similar to how Muslims get driven mad by their religious leaders? The Irish Catholics claim they’re being oppressed, but what’s really happening? Are the Protestants killing them unprovoked? Are the Protestants stealing their land? Are the Protestants poisoning their food? I don’t think so. I think it’s the Irish Catholic Church that is worried about Protestantism taking over from Catholicism, so the Irish Catholic leaders are driving their flock of brainwashed sheep mad, just like the Muslim leaders drive their hordes of Muslims savages mad.
