Would there be a chance of another gas pipeline explosion where I live?

I was just reading about the San Bruno explosion, and then found out that the area which I live in, South Riding, Virginia, had a pipeline explosion of their own in 1998. Would a previous explosion make it so they'd be more cautious with the pipelines in the area, or would it make it so my area would be more vulnerable to explosions like that?
